    Plot Outline:
    New Moon is based upon the beloved Stephenie Meyer novel of the same name. It's the second installment of the Twilight series, a continuation of the story of a teenage girl who falls in love with a vampire. The film will be put into production in March 2009 and set for a tenatively November 20, 2009 release.

    The second film in Summit Entertainment's Twilight film franchise, based on author Stephenie Meyer's blockbuster book series. In New Moon, Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) is devastated by the abrupt departure of her vampire love, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) but her spirit is rekindled by her growing friendship with the irresistible Jacob Black. Suddenly she finds herself drawn into the world of the werewolves, ancestral enemies of the vampires, and finds her loyalties tested.

    Synposis from the book, Warning: Spoilers - Bella Swan is thrown an eighteenth birthday party by Alice and Edward Cullen, the vampire she loves, and the rest of their vampire family. While unwrapping a gift, she receives a paper cut. Edward's brother Jasper, although attempting a non-human diet, is overwhelmed by the scent of blood and tries to attack Bella. In an attempt to keep her safe from the world of vampires, Edward tells Bella that he no longer loves her and leaves the town of Forks, Washington with his family. Bella becomes depressed and seeks comfort with Jacob Black, an old family friend who eases her pain over losing Edward. But Jacob has some secrets of his own.

    There are four Twilight series books; Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. All primarily narrated from Bella's point of view. The rights to the first three novels have been aquired and Melissa Rosenberg is penning the scripts.

    Kristen Stewart's Role:
    Kristen Stewart plays Isabella "Bella" Swan. An clumsy 17-year-old girl who moves to the small town of Forks, Washington from Phoenix, Arizona about halfway through her junior year of high school.

    In the novels, Bella, after moving to her father's house, meets the mysterious Cullen family and becomes intrigued by a student, Edward Cullen. Edward saves her life on multiple occasions, exhibiting super-human qualities. Bella learns from family friend Jacob Black that legends say the Cullen family are vampires. Edward eventually admits to this truth, though his family hunts only animals, not humans, through moralistic choice. Edward constantly warns Bella against being with him, perceiving her life to be at risk if she continues to associate with him because the scent of her blood is so much more powerful to him than that of any other human. Bella's love and confidence in Edward's restraint is such that his warnings go unheeded, and on an outing with the Cullens she becomes the target of a sadistic vampire, James.

    Bella is described in the books as being fair-skinned with brown hair and eyes, and a heart-shaped face. Beyond this, a detailed description of her appearance is never given in the series. Stephenie Meyer explains that she "left out a detailed description of Bella in the book so that the reader could more easily step into her shoes." While Meyer stresses that "Bella's looks are open to interpretation", she does supply her own personal interpretation on her website, describing Bella as:

    "very fair-skinned, with long, straight, dark brown hair and chocolate brown eyes. Her face is heart-shaped—a wide forehead with a widow's peak, large, wide-spaced eyes, prominent cheekbones, and then a thin nose and a narrow jaw with a pointed chin. Her lips are a little out of proportion, a bit too full for her jaw line. Her eyebrows are darker than her hair and more straight than they are arched. She's five foot four inches tall, slender but not at all muscular, and weighs about 115 pounds. She has stubby fingernails because she has a nervous habit of biting them."

    In New Moon, Bella sinks into a deep depression for four months due to some events at her eighteenth birthday party. These events accumulate in things that change and shape Bella and Edward's relationship forever. During her depression, she seeks comfort with Jacob Black, an old family friend who clears the haze of Bella's pain. In the second novel/book, Bella will finally understand everything that will be at stake if she makes the ultimate choice to give up her humanity and live, like the vampires, forever.

    Trivia & Facts
    Begins filming in March 2009. The cast is returning, however Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke is not. She will be replaced by Chris Weitz. Catherine decided against the sequel because reports say Summit would not give her enough time for her vision of the film.

    Summet Entertainment officially announced the sequel the weekend of the opening, the first film made $70 Million in it's first weekend. The rights for the third novel are also aquired. As the novels get bigger and bigger, which would ultimately push the film's budgets up, it's likely all the novels to films won't be announced until opening weekends to be sure the demand and money is there.
